The Slate Belt Chamber of Commerce will award one scholarship to a senior from each of the four area schools: Bangor Area High School, Pen Argyl Area High School, Faith Christian School and Career Institute of Technology (Slate Belt students).
The scholarships will be presented to the students based upon the following criteria - academic accomplishment, demonstrated service to school and/or community, demonstration of leadership capabilities and future vocational plans.
Please note: THE FREDERICK R. CURCIO JR., Scholarship Award may also be applied for with this application. To qualify for this particular award a senior must be either enrolled in a computer science related course or planning to attend a Technical School of their choice or majoring in computer science.
1. Applicant must attend Bangor Area, Pen Argyl Area, Faith Christian or Career Institute of Technology schools.
2. A single scholarship will be awarded to one student from each school. The amount of the scholarship will be determined upon the success of Education Committee Business Donation solicitation.
3. Selection of the scholarship awards will be the sole responsibility of the Slate Belt Chamber of Commerce Educational Scholarship Committee.
4. Applicants must submit an essay on individual goals. Include information about interests, hobbies, choice of profession or any other area that will give the selection committee a better insight into applicant personality.
5. Applicants must have one (1) letter of recommendation attached to the application.
6. All questions on the application must be completed and all additional requirements fulfilled for the application to be considered eligible for the scholarship award.
7. A check for the scholarship amount will be made payable to the recipient and will only be released to the recipient when proof of resignation to an above-referred school is submitted to the chamber office.
